Green Oak is the second main character of the manga series Pokémon Adventures. He is the grandson of Professor Oak. His first Pokémon was a Scyther -- he is shown with one when he was a child. When he was young, he trained in Johto under Chuck, the Gym Leader of Cianwood City. Green's special skill, as described by Professor Oak, is Pokémon training -- that is, leveling them up and making them strong, and as such is referred to as the "Trainer".

Green has a serious, calm, and focused personality in everything he does. Although Red and Blue were once bothered by each other because their personalities are so opposite, they ended up resolving their differences.

“—There are no leads as to why these Pokemon are attacking their owners. In other news…“

The television screen turned black. Blue set down her remote control as her mouth stretched into a taught frown. Things were becoming hectic on the mainland—what could the source be? Team Rocket had disbanded…

The boy pushed open and walked through the large doors of the Viridian Gym. He was aware that it was very unbecoming of a Gym Leader to leave his post; however, his grandfather had only left him only a single, urgent message that was quite persuasive.

“I need you here at the lab now!”

Green didn’t need any more reason than that and it wasn’t unusual for the Viridian Gym to be closed now was it?

The boy pulled a sphere from his pocket and as it expanded in his hand it released a Pidgeot. He climbed on to it’s back, reaching around to rub the bird along it’s throat. It cooed in response and began to flap it’s massive wings, before ascending to the sky.

They’d be in Pallet Town soon.
